1.) interesting that a European is demonstrating Arnis technique on top of the memorial site of a famous Filipino hero when you consider that this hero killed one of the first Europeans who tried to conquer his island.
1a.) this is a surreal form of revenge
1b.) money can get you places in the Philippines -- always has and always will.

2.) his response to an attack is odd: he steps BACK to parry the strike when traditionally, in Arnis you step diagonally into the strike. this allows you to gain ground and simultaneously attack the agressor. his counterstrikes look florid and are quite pretty, though. he really knows stick twirling and abanico...the temperature at the monument must have been brisk.

it's nice to know someone from outside the islands has so much devotion to the art as to pay tribute to it in this way....
